EN 10025-3 Grade S275N normalized or normalized formed (+N)

EN 10025-3 Grade S275N is a normalized/normalized rolled structural steel plate that belongs to the European standard EN 10025-3. It is primarily used in construction and engineering industries. S275N offers good weldability, machinability, and high durability.

The "S" in S275N stands for structural steel, while "275" represents the minimum yield strength of 275 megapascals (MPa). The letter "N" indicates that the steel is supplied in normalized condition, which means it has undergone a controlled heating and cooling process to improve its mechanical properties.

This grade is suitable for various applications, including building structures, bridges, machinery frames, and support structures. It exhibits good toughness and resistance to brittle fracture, making it suitable for low-temperature environments.

EN 10025-3 Grade S275N conforms to the European Standard EN 10025-3:2004, which specifies technical delivery conditions for normalized/normalized rolled weldable fine grain structural steels. It is important to consult the relevant standards and specifications for detailed mechanical and chemical properties, as well as any specific requirements for your intended application.

EN 10025-3 Grade S275N, when designated with "+N" (normalized or normalized formed), indicates that the steel plate has undergone a normalizing process during manufacturing. The normalization treatment involves heating the steel to a specific temperature and then allowing it to cool in still air.

Normalizing improves the mechanical properties of the steel, including its toughness, ductility, and impact strength. It also refines the grain structure, resulting in a more uniform and consistent material with reduced internal stresses.

The addition of "+N" to the grade designation signifies that the steel plate is supplied in the normalized condition. This means that the material has been subjected to the normalizing process to achieve the desired properties.

EN 10025-3 Grade S275N normalized or normalized formed (+N) is commonly used in structural applications, such as building construction, bridges, and machinery components. It provides good weldability and high strength while maintaining adequate toughness.

The unalloyed, normalised/normalising rolled quality steel S275N is a weldable fine-grained steel with a min. yield point of 275 N/mm². The steel is applicated in normalized condition for several types of welded constructions such as fixed and movable storage container, high-pressure pipes, bridge and load-bearing constructions etc.
Cold forming: Suitability for cold bending, folding, cold flanging or cold welting has to be agreed. For sheet, strip and wide flat steel in normalized condition, for nominal thickness (s) up to 16 mm can be warranted the following bending radius values:
longitudinal: 2,5 x s
transverse: 2,0 x s
Sheet and strip of nominal thicknesses
